Fellow Friday: Alumni Spotlight ft: Yvonne Miller, Leaders of Color Washington DC

Ms. Yvonne Miller earned her Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Law School, and she was on the Dean’s List for most of her law school career. Ms, Miller completed an externship at Source America—in Fairfax, Virginia—centered around disability policy related to the Javits, Wagoner, O’Day Act. During her 3L year, Ms. Miller served as a student law clerk for the Honorable Rosemarie Aquilina, a judge in the 30th Circuit Court in Ingham County, Michigan. She was an organizer for former President Barack Obama’s inaugural presidential campaign in four states in the 2008 Democratic primary cycle and subsequently worked in field operations at the National Headquarters of the NAACP. Ms. Miller interned in the Office of Public Engagement at The White House in the first Obama-Biden presidential administration where she worked towards the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. Yvonne is licensed to practice law in Maryland, and she handles a variety of employment and labor law matters involving employment discrimination and retaliation. Ms. Miller served as a Higher Heights Senior Leadership Fellow in 2020. In her spare time, Ms. Miller enjoys mentoring high school students through the GripTape Learning Challenge and taking walks with her dog, Baker.
